New design and launch details have been leaked for the Galaxy S26, the next generation of Samsung’s flagship series. According to information about the series, which the company is expected to unveil in February 2026, the base Galaxy S26 model will feature a thinner body than its predecessor.
The Galaxy S26 will stand out with its slim design
According to information shared by reliable leaker Ice Universe, the base Galaxy S26 model will be 6.9 mm thick. This represents a roughly 4 percent thinner design compared to the Galaxy S25’s 7.2 mm thickness.
While a thinner design will make the device more comfortable to hold, it’s not yet clear how this will affect battery capacity. The Galaxy S25 launched with a 4,000 mAh battery, and it’s currently unknown whether the new model will retain a similar capacity.
Leaks indicate that Samsung will hold its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event on February 25, 2026. The event will reportedly once again focus on artificial intelligence, and the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra will be unveiled. This event will mark Samsung’s return to San Francisco after a three-year hiatus; the city last introduced the Galaxy S23 series.
Meanwhile, new clues have emerged regarding the design of the top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra. Leaks suggest the Ultra will feature more rounded corners, effectively abandoning the sharp, boxy design inherited from the Note series.
Finally, South Korea-based publication MK News reported that Samsung has set a sales target of 35 million units for the Galaxy S26 series. The company expects 24 million of these units to be sold in the first half of 2026. For comparison, the previous model, the Galaxy S25 series, fell short of this target with 22 million sales in the first half of 2025.
